Inspired Kids Bathroom

Updated: Sep 9, 2020

Like most things around here, this has been a long time coming. I have to say it was worth the wait. When we bought the house this bathroom that the kids use was fine, but tired. It defiantly lacked personality and fun!

Since we didn't have a million dollars in unmarked bills under our mattress, we decided to do a facelift on this GEM. It has amazing floor tile and a nice sized vanity already.

The first thing we did was to switch out the light fixture. It truly is one of the best things, aside from paint, you can do to change a room's vibe.

After I put my inspiration board together I found the perfect shade of green! It was Valspar Vegas Green. from Lowes. I purchased the Cabinet Enamel for durability, God knows a kids bathroom will need to be durable. I washed all the surfaced with TSP before painting. It really is an important step...it removes all the grease and yuck.

Wow! What a huge difference. The walls we painted with one of my favorite whites, Chantilly Lace by Benjamin Moore. The combination really changed the look from blah to fun and unexpected! We kept the same handles. We changed out the curtain rod (it was rusty), and purchased fun new accessories. One of my go to on-line stores is Society 6. If you don't know them defiantly check them out! In many cases they feature real live artists' designs. Our shower curtain came from Society 6 and it's perfect!

For a long time this is how the bathroom was. I knew I wanted a fun mirror in there and I knew I wanted the color to be the same as the vanity, I just had to find it! Last weekend we went to an estate sale and there she was!

Hanging in the entryway was a horizontal bamboo mirror. It was love at first sight! I think it was 20.00.

It was a very pretty dark red color. It just wasn't for this situation. So I cleaned it and painted it the Vegas Green.

It takes two coats. This paint really does dry and look like a lacquer. I love it so much!

I am so happy with the results! It is defiantly a fun place for the kids to get ready and start their day off right. Drop me a line and let me know what you think! Thank you for checking out my blog!
